The Town Hall in Villacidro stands on the border between the old historic district of Convento and that of Frontera and stands on a natural lookout from which part of the Campidano and the Castàngias valley can be observed.
In the 17th century, the Convent of the Mercedarian Fathers was built on this site, which remained operational until 1858. In 1862, the Municipality of Villacidro purchased it from the Ecclesiastical Fund with the aim of building the schoolhouse and municipal town hall in its place.
In 1929-30, the small church dedicated to Our Lady of Mercede was demolished to complete the Town Hall and its square.
During the event it will be possible to visit the Monument to the Fallen of World War I, the Municipal Historical Archives and the City Council Chamber named after the Honorable Salvator Angelo Spano (city councilor, regional councilor and alderman and, in 1972, President of the Region of Sardinia).
