The Court Palace was built around 1600 by incorporating parts of the 14th-century Court Castle.
It was the administrative headquarters of the Borgia feudal lords who made it the political and administrative center of the Incontrada del Monte Acuto.
Converted into barracks, in 1856 it housed the Royal Dragoons, Bersaglieri and Customs Guards.
In 1874 it became home to a detachment of the Royal Stallion Depot with the aim of bringing order to the declining field of horse breeding in Sardinia.
Ozieri was recognized and entrusted with the function of creating a breed of horses that would be useful not only for the daily needs of work and transportation, but also for war uses.
In 1956 the Region of Sardinia transformed the Regio Deposito into the Istituto Incremento Ippico, with production directed toward the sport horse.
