{"id":89226,"date":"2023-12-11T16:00:16","date_gmt":"2023-12-11T14:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/comuni\/villamassargia\/"},"modified":"2024-07-16T11:33:14","modified_gmt":"2024-07-16T09:33:14","slug":"villamassargia","status":"publish","type":"comune","link":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/comuni\/villamassargia\/","title":{"rendered":"Villamassargia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Villamassargia is a center of about 3,500 inhabitants that stands in a historically favorable position along the ancient road to Kalaribus from Sant&#8217;Antioco, evidenced by the discovery of two Roman milestones.  <\/span><span class=\"s1\">The name is composed of the words &#8220;villa&#8221; (village) and &#8220;massargia&#8221; (of the massari).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s1\">The center boasts a human presence since the 6th-5th millennium BC. The Su Koncali de Korongiu Acca burial cave has returned Neolithic artifacts.  <\/span><span class=\"s1\">In addition to its immense historical-archaeological heritage, Villamassargia preserves breathtaking naturalistic landscapes, such as the centuries-old olive grove of S&#8217;Ortu Mannu famous for the majesty of its centuries-old trees and the charming mining village of Orbai. Protagonists of the historic center are two Romanesque monuments of singular beauty: the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Snows and the Church of N.S. del Pilar and San Ranieri.<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Don&#8217;t miss the historic houses, animated by local associations with tastings and temporary exhibitions.
