The territory of Terralba, located in Campidano di Oristano, covers about 49.80 km\u00b2 with a population of 9,765. In addition to the main town there are two hamlets: Tanca Marchese and Marcedd\u00ec.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

It has always owed its fortune and prosperity to its location, which has proved strategic, both historically and economically.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

From the earliest times, the economy has been based on the productive activities of the first sector such as: agriculture, viticulture, animal husbandry and fishing. In recent decades, however, the tertiary sector has experienced significant growth, especially in trade, construction and services.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The municipality’s coat of arms encompasses all the elements that characterize the territory of Terralba over the centuries, related to the history of the port of Marcedd\u00ec, where from the earliest times trading ships landed there to exchange products. The central part depicts the tower, which indicated safety for those who landed and lived near it (referring to the Spanish Tower of Marcedd\u00ec); the sailing ship, which referred to past trade and the hope-filled future of the Terralbese.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Terralba holds an important historical-cultural heritage and landscape to discover: the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle, the Church of St. Ciriaco, where the prehistoric site of the same name once stood; the Don Eliseo Picture Gallery Museum, the home studio of artist Dina Pala, the Museum of the Peasant, sa Domu de Tzia, Elementary School Museum, the “Ainnantis”-the “Merkaba” mural and the Blue eco Lab Medsea Bench, the L’Eta’ della Bonifica exhibition, the Archaeological site of Santa Maria, the exhibition on the celebrations of the Madonna of Bonaria, and the Rosehouseblues garden.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

In the charming fishermen’s village of Marcedd\u00ec, its Museo del Mare, the Church of Our Lady of Bonaria and the Spanish Tower frame the characteristic lagoon landscape with its orchid garden.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
