{"id":101207,"date":"2024-08-29T10:38:01","date_gmt":"2024-08-29T08:38:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/monumenti\/tower-of-calasetta\/"},"modified":"2024-09-04T09:45:44","modified_gmt":"2024-09-04T07:45:44","slug":"tower-of-calasetta","status":"publish","type":"monumento","link":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/monumenti\/tower-of-calasetta\/","title":{"rendered":"Tower of Calasetta"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Calasetta Tower, located in the historic center of Calasetta, dates back to 1756.\nIt was erected to provide protection from attacks from the sea and today is used for cultural and educational activities and to house an important collection of Phoenician-Punic artifacts.\nAtta to guard the entire stretch of sea and coastline between the islands of Sant&#8217;Antioco and San Pietro and the mainland, it allowed a view that spanned a radius of 20 km.\nCalasetta&#8217;s massive tower has a classic truncated cone shape with a base diameter of more than 16 meters and a height of 11 meters at the terrace.\nIt consists of two overlapping rooms, of which the one below &#8211; containing the ancient cistern &#8211; was unearthed in recent times.\nThe external staircase, also of modern age, leads to the entrance located at a height of 4 meters.\nOne enters a circular chamber 10 meters in diameter, covered with a domed vault supported by a pillar.\nThe chamber is divided into several rooms by some partitions already of planting, of which the alcad and soldiers&#8217; quarters can be recognized.\nAll the thrones and the hatchway of this chamber are arranged symmetrically as at the corners of a regular hexagon.\nFrom the open staircase to the right of the hatchway and carved into the wall thickness, one arrives at the slab of arms, now unrecognizable after various interventions that have transformed battlements, gunports and sentry boxes.\nPart of the stone stringcourse remains of the ancient structure.            <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":17,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"COMUNE":[],"note":[],"indirizzo":[],"accessibilita_mezzi":[],"coordinates":[],"images":[],"adesioni":[],"footnotes":""},"monumento_tipologia":[685],"accessibilita":[],"accessibilita_mezzi":[],"class_list":["post-101207","monumento","type-monumento","status-publish","hentry","monumento_tipologia-architettura-militare-en"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumenti\/101207","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumenti"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/monumento"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/17"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumenti\/101207\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":101208,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumenti\/101207\/revisions\/101208"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=101207"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"monumento_tipologia","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumento_tipologia?post=101207"},{"taxonomy":"accessibilita","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/accessibilita?post=101207"},{"taxonomy":"accessibilita_mezzi","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/accessibilita_mezzi?post=101207"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
