The former cathedral of the Giudicato of Gallura is dedicated to the cult of Simplicio, patron saint of the city of Olbia and Gallura, whom Christian tradition establishes as a martyr under the persecutions of Emperor Diocletian. The church, built in the late 11th and early 12th centuries, features the use of a mixed construction technique: brick and granite.
