Hundreds of pieces fell along Porru Bonelli Street, the main road, and on its parallel, Marconi Street. Cagliari Street, in the vicinity of the riverbank, was also severely affected.<\/p>\n<p>In that area, some women and children were intent on the daily ritual of washing clothes. Witnesses tell of blood-splattered streets, torn and unrecognizable bodies, terror and loss of all hope.
