{"id":90756,"date":"2023-12-19T11:50:51","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T09:50:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/monumenti\/church-of-st-catherine-of-pittinuri\/"},"modified":"2024-09-10T12:17:32","modified_gmt":"2024-09-10T10:17:32","slug":"church-of-st-catherine-of-pittinuri","status":"publish","type":"monumento","link":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/monumenti\/church-of-st-catherine-of-pittinuri\/","title":{"rendered":"Church of St. Catherine of Pittinuri"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The villa of Pittinuri (toponym attested with long series of variants) is attested in medieval documentation from the mid-14th century.<br \/>\nIts importance lay in being close to a natural harbor, recognized as strategic, both in Judicial times and later during the Catalan-Aragonese and Spanish occupation of Sardinia.<br \/>\nThe value of the site appears to be further supported by the church&#8217;s aggregation to a priory of Hierosolymitan monks (an event that may have resulted in its modest Gothic-inspired architectural embellishment that no longer exists).<br \/>\nThe same is true in relation to the vicissitudes of the tuna fishery, which, in the 17th century, increased the importance of the fiefdom of the Zatrillas counts.<br \/>\nThe present <em>facies <\/em>of the building features an 18th-century facade with a gabled crowning and small bell gable in axis with the portal.<br \/>\nThe interior is modulated by the opening of two side altars about halfway down the body of the building.<br \/>\nAlthough no obvious traces of the medieval period remain, the removal of plasterwork has brought to light the wall texture, also enhancing the simple barrel vaults.<br \/>\nOf note are some canvases kept in the sacristy and the 18th-century statue of the titular saint, kept in a niche in the center of the chancel.<br \/>\nThe feast, organized as a pilgrimage on foot from the basilica in Cuglieri, is celebrated there on the second Sunday in May.<br \/>\nIn the area facing the church is positioned a series of eye-cavity bethyls from the tomb of giants in Oraggiana.         <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":12,"featured_media":61082,"template":"","meta":{"COMUNE":[],"note":[],"indirizzo":[],"accessibilita_mezzi":[],"coordinates":[],"images":[],"adesioni":[],"footnotes":""},"monumento_tipologia":[681,679,691],"accessibilita":[],"accessibilita_mezzi":[],"class_list":["post-90756","monumento","type-monumento","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","monumento_tipologia-bene-archeologico-en","monumento_tipologia-chiesa-en","monumento_tipologia-religione-e-culto-en"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumenti\/90756","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumenti"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/monumento"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/12"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumenti\/90756\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":99480,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumenti\/90756\/revisions\/99480"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/61082"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=90756"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"monumento_tipologia","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumento_tipologia?post=90756"},{"taxonomy":"accessibilita","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/accessibilita?post=90756"},{"taxonomy":"accessibilita_mezzi","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/accessibilita_mezzi?post=90756"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
