There was also the division of the Reggio Carabinieri Mounted Unit, which would come out of the stables located on the ground floor of the Mameli Street barracks, often to scout the countryside. For the boys of the time, just seeing them pass by was cause for spectacle. Serving at the Barracks were Commanders Aloia, Carlo Serra, Sulis and Giannini. The Mounted Carabinieri department was discharged between the 1950s and 1960s and the Barracks were moved to Monsignor Virgil Street.
