The structure is spread over two floors.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The upper one, used for the masses of the faithful, features a circular floor plan. The baptistery is a faithful reproduction of the one in the Church of St. John the Evangelist in Ephesus. A side chapel hosts weekday masses, with an altar composed of an ancient white stone mensa from the 1300s and the original base of a column built to be destined for Cagliari&#8217;s Town Hall. An ancient statue of St. Rita of Cascia from the 17th century and a statuette of St. Mary Salome, carved from pear wood, are displayed in the church.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The crypt on the lower level, with the theme &#8220;The Apocalypse,&#8221; features a Brazilian blue granite floor representing the &#8220;crystal sea&#8221; and an altar with seven symbolic grooves topped by seven candelabra. The ambo in the crypt is a stylized reproduction of the Eagle, associated with the evangelist John.
