{"id":91142,"date":"2023-12-19T11:50:37","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T09:50:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/monumenti\/church-of-st-mary-of-sibiola\/"},"modified":"2024-09-04T11:32:53","modified_gmt":"2024-09-04T09:32:53","slug":"church-of-st-mary-of-sibiola","status":"publish","type":"monumento","link":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/monumenti\/church-of-st-mary-of-sibiola\/","title":{"rendered":"Church of St. Mary of Sibiola"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The church of Sibiola dedicated to Santa Maria is one of the masterpieces of Romanesque art built in Sardinia by the Vittorini.<br \/>\nThe building can be ascribed to the first quarter of the 12th century (c. 1125), although there appears to have been a column stone near the altar engraved with the date 1086, which was later lost in the 1964 restoration.<br \/>\nThe layout has two naves with apses perfectly oriented to the east.<br \/>\nThe north aisle is slightly narrower than the south aisle and both are barrel-vaulted.<br \/>\nThe north side has a hanging staircase for access to the upper floor; these are lithic corbels set into the wall, reminiscent of the internal stairways of nuraghi.<br \/>\nThe fa\u00e7ade consists of squared ashlars of trachytic stone that create a certain vividness of color; in the past it culminated with a bell gable of which only the basal ashlars remain today, having been destroyed by lightning in 1963, but the bells were already absent because they were apparently stolen in 1800.<br \/>\nIn the center of the fa\u00e7ade appears a bichromatic radiating circle and at its side can be seen a larger ashlar with an inscription, now worn out by time in which is engraved the expression <em>in nomine Domini et Marie <\/em>(in the name of the Lord and Mary)<em>. <\/em>On the fa\u00e7ade, at either end, are two basins, originally ceramic later carried horizontally even in the upper part finished with an arching that accompanies all sides.<br \/>\nInside, the two naves present a barrel vault.<br \/>\nAs for the furnishings, in the main nave there is a single altar surmounted by a wooden crucifix, while in the minor apse, in a niche, stands the small statue of St. Anne with the infant Mary, found in the surrounding countryside.        <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":12,"featured_media":59979,"template":"","meta":{"COMUNE":[],"note":[],"indirizzo":[],"accessibilita_mezzi":[],"coordinates":[],"images":[],"adesioni":[],"footnotes":""},"monumento_tipologia":[679,691],"accessibilita":[],"accessibilita_mezzi":[],"class_list":["post-91142","monumento","type-monumento","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","monumento_tipologia-chiesa-en","monumento_tipologia-religione-e-culto-en"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumenti\/91142","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumenti"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/monumento"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/12"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumenti\/91142\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":99135,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumenti\/91142\/revisions\/99135"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/59979"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=91142"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"monumento_tipologia","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/monumento_tipologia?post=91142"},{"taxonomy":"accessibilita","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/accessibilita?post=91142"},{"taxonomy":"accessibilita_mezzi","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/accessibilita_mezzi?post=91142"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
