{"id":91406,"date":"2023-12-19T11:50:35","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T09:50:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/monumenti\/parish-church-of-the-blessed-virgin-of-the-assumption\/"},"modified":"2024-09-13T11:56:45","modified_gmt":"2024-09-13T09:56:45","slug":"parish-church-of-the-blessed-virgin-of-the-assumption","status":"publish","type":"monumento","link":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/monumenti\/parish-church-of-the-blessed-virgin-of-the-assumption\/","title":{"rendered":"Parish Church of the Blessed Virgin of the Assumption"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The church stands monumentally in the square of the same name.<br \/>\nBuilt in the 15th century, it has a Latin cross plan with semicircular apse, six barrel-vaulted side chapels and dome placed at the intersection of the arms with the transept.<br \/>\nIt became a parish church perhaps as a replacement for the older church of San Giuliano, and today it has an exterior appearance born of the renovations of the second half of the 19th century, which mainly affected the facade and the bell tower.<br \/>\nThe latter still retains the oldest of its bells, dated 1593, the work of Neapolitan master bell founder Laurentius Brotto.<br \/>\nNoteworthy pieces include: the high altar, the pulpit, the 18th-century baptismal font, several panels with scenes of the Sorrowful Mysteries from the second half of the 1600s, an Aragonese-style silver cross, a masterpiece of Sardinian silver art of the sec.
