{"id":91693,"date":"2023-12-19T11:53:15","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T09:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/monumenti\/ducal-baths\/"},"modified":"2024-09-09T09:27:57","modified_gmt":"2024-09-09T07:27:57","slug":"ducal-baths","status":"publish","type":"monumento","link":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/monumenti\/ducal-baths\/","title":{"rendered":"Ducal Baths"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The mansion was built around 1540 for the &#8220;delizia&#8221; of the Montagna di San Giorgio in which the Este family, lovers of leisure, spent part of their free time.<br \/>\nThe delizia, largely destroyed in the 17th century, featured a large garden with a labyrinth and a fishpond, and was overlooked by the &#8220;Montagna&#8221; on which grew a grove with many animals, including exotic ones.<br \/>\nThe square-plan mansion is arranged around the central courtyard and has obvious references to Roman domus.<br \/>\nIn 1799 Napoleon&#8217;s troops used the building as a military garrison, but in the late 19th century the building was adapted to house a caf\u00e9.<br \/>\nIn the early 1900s the building became an elementary school until &#8217;44, when it housed people displaced by the war.
