{"id":93044,"date":"2023-12-19T11:49:57","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T09:49:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/monumenti\/church-of-san-rocco\/"},"modified":"2024-09-10T14:34:34","modified_gmt":"2024-09-10T12:34:34","slug":"church-of-san-rocco","status":"publish","type":"monumento","link":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/monumenti\/church-of-san-rocco\/","title":{"rendered":"Church of San Rocco"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The church of San Rocco, now deconsecrated, stands a short distance from the church of San Francesco, on the road leading to the Capuchin Convent.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  Following several restorations it is in fairly good condition and is used for exhibitions and conferences.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Confirming the &#8220;votive&#8221; origin of the church are parish records, from which it is understood that its construction began at the behest of the people following the severe plague that struck the town between 1652 and 1653.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the portal lunette are carved in relief, next to Christ on the Cross, the saints traditionally invoked during epidemics: &#8220;Saint Roch&#8221; (left) and &#8220;Saint Sebastian&#8221; (right).
