{"id":93195,"date":"2023-12-19T11:49:51","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T09:49:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/monumenti\/giuseppe-tomasiello-prison\/"},"modified":"2024-09-03T09:19:58","modified_gmt":"2024-09-03T07:19:58","slug":"giuseppe-tomasiello-prison","status":"publish","type":"monumento","link":"https:\/\/monumentiaperti.com\/it\/en\/monumenti\/giuseppe-tomasiello-prison\/","title":{"rendered":"Giuseppe Tomasiello Prison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Established by Royal Decree in 1889, the Alghero Penal Bath took shape in a suburban location, the hill of San Giovanni, only in 1893.<br \/>\nIt was here that Alessandro Serenelli, the killer of Santa Maria Goretti, served the last years of his long imprisonment from 1924 to 1929.<br \/>\nIn 1945 it was the scene of a tragic escape of lifers, including the Farina brothers, in which four correctional officers lost their lives.<br \/>\nAfter that episode, the wall structures were strengthened and perimeter towers were erected.<br \/>\nCurrently, within the penitentiary institution, a printing press is in operation, replacing the old bindery, a carpentry workshop has been started, and several vocational education courses are being activated.
