Tales of Open Monuments<\/em> is a special project born in 2009 within the Cagliari Monumenti Aperti<\/em> experience. From the “mother” event it deduces its scope, that related to the sphere of storytelling, entrusted to professional writers, Sardinian but not only. And it is also with the desire to “intercept” this movement, to call it together around the virtuous experience of Monumenti Aperti<\/em>, asking it to become a witness to the city, that the idea of Tales<\/em> was born.<\/p>\n

For each edition, one or more writers are involved, each of whom is commissioned to write an original work inspired by a city monument from among those featured in the event. During the two-day Cagliari Monumenti Aperti<\/em> event, they are asked to read their stories in public in the monument. Writers are asked to give these monuments different identities, turning them into even unintentional protagonists of new stories.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

An “appeal” to which, to date, Marcello Fois, Michela Murgia, Gianluca Floris, Enrico Pau, Mario Gelardi, Massimiliano Medda, Vito Biolchini, Paolo Maccioni, Giorgio Todde, Davide Catinari, Paolo Fresu, Rossella Faa, Gianni Zanata, Anthony Muroni, and Nino Nonnis have responded, signing as many as fifteen short stories.<\/p>\n

Instead, on the occasion of the 20th edition of the event, a “special story” told in the first person by the protagonists of those who conceived, invented and promoted Monumenti Aperti back in 1997 was offered. Armando Serri, Vito Biolchini, Massimiliano Messina, Massimiliano Rais and Giuseppe Crobu wrote and read on the occasion of Cagliari Monumenti Aperti the story “Some boys, just some boys<\/a> <\/em>.” <\/em> <\/strong>The story of a group of young people who, after years of giving guided tours to thousands of Cagliari residents in the crypt of Santa Restituta and other forgotten churches, were able to bring together organizations and associations, institutions and schools, for a cultural initiative that continues over time.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The Little Reporters <\/strong> of the 2016 edition, pupils from Primary Sacro Cuore – Ludum School, accompanied by the head of the school’s journalism workshop Franca Rita Porcu, interviewed the founders of the event: Armando Serri, Vito Biolchini, Massimiliano Messina, Massimiliano Rais and Giuseppe Crobu, who in this 20th edition all special project “I Racconti di Monumenti Aperti.”<\/p>\n

On the occasion of the twenty-first edition of Monumenti Aperti<\/em>, the Imago Mundi Onlus association is re-proposing the entire Collection of I Racconti<\/strong> published since the first edition, keeping intact the original curated graphic layout. This will provide an opportunity for those who have not had a chance to “win” a copy of the now sold-out original editions to read the entire collection. The volume, which collects all the stories in the series made from 2009 to the present, will be available for purchase in the bookshops of the municipal art center Il Ghetto, on Santa Croce Street, and EXMA, on San Lucifero Street 71, and the Edumondo bookstore, on Sulis Street 47.<\/p>\n
