L\u2019area urbana in cui \u00e8 stata costruita negli anni 1936-37 la Palazzina dell\u2019ex mercato ortofrutticolo fa parte della cosiddetta Addizione Novecentista, che ha subito profonde trasformazioni tra i primi del Novecento e gli anni prima della seconda guerra mondiale.
\nSono Carlo Savonuzzi e l\u2019architetto Alfredo Ciaccia gli incaricati della progettazione dell\u2019ex MOF, struttura che comprende la palazzina degli scambi e il grande recinto del mercato retrostante, mentre Galileo Cattabriga dipinge i due grandi affreschi che decorano la sala principale della palazzina.
\nFino agli anni ’80, l’intera area viene utilizzata come mercato, poi la parte costruita viene gradualmente abbandonata, mentre la grande spianata retrostante diventa un parcheggio.
