Piras House Barn

The construction of the granary dates back to the first half of the 19th century.
It is a warehouse used for grain storage and is characterized by a mighty wooden structure consisting of 6 overlapping and communicating cells. The crop was stored at the top of the structure to allow the area to pass through and prevent the harmful effects of moisture. Each upper cell has trapdoors that allow grain to drain from the shelf above to the one below. The lower cells, on the other hand, have dispensers that allowed the bags to be filled. In times of famine, the granary is said to have been opened to the population so that free grain could be taken.
