For several years patronage has been coming from the highest offices of the Italian state.
Since 2006 the event has received as a representative award a Medal of the Presidency of the Republic; after Presidents Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and Giorgio Napolitano, Sergio Mattarella also wished to send his recognition for the XXVI edition of Monumenti Aperti.
The recognition of the Head of State is in addition to the Patronage of the Chamber of Deputies and the Patronage of the Senate of the Republic.. Two coveted certificates that contribute to the growing importance of the event in the country. In addition, the Hon. Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, for the 2022 edition has granted the Patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (MiC), wishing us great success for the initiative. Also returning is the Patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. . For the XXVI edition of Monumenti Aperti also came the Patronage of the President of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia., showing its closeness to the event, and the Patronage of the President of the Regional Council., Michele Pais. 
In 2017 Open Monuments on the occasion of the Third edition of the "Endless Beauty" Award (all the winners), in the category The Beauty of Gestures, promoted by Legambiente, Comieco, Council of Architects and Symbola, also received a special mention for best interpreting the role of communities in the care and enhancement of cultural heritage, which continues to have a strong identity and civic role, only if enjoyed, felt as their own and experienced by citizens. This award was personally presented to Fabrizio Frongia, the president of the organizing association Imago Mundi Onlus, on Friday, March 31, 2017 in Rome. Before the end of 2017 came another recognition for the event Open Monuments.
On the occasion of the 12th San Bartolomeo Literary Festival in Cagliari's Lazzaretto Cultural Center, on Sunday, November 5, the president of the Imago Mundi Onlus Association, Fabrizio Frongia, received the award "Evening in honor of...", an award that is given by the organizers of the Festival, and given to those who, in various fields, have given luster to Cagliari or Sardinia. In 2018, Monumenti Aperti was honored by the European Commission and Europa Nostra, Europe's leading cultural heritage network, with the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards 2018.. Juries of independent experts evaluated a total of 160 applications submitted by organizations and individuals from 31 countries across Europe. On June 22, Monumenti Aperti and the other 28 winners, from 17 countries, picked up the award, a recognition for outstanding achievements in the categories of "Conservation, Research, Exemplary Contributions, and Education, Training and Awareness Raising." The presentation of Monumenti Aperti by Fabrizio Frongia, president of Imago Mundi, during the official European Union Cultural Heritage Awards Ceremony at the Berlin Congress Center aroused great curiosity and attention among other awardees. For the first time, the 2022 edition of Monumenti Aperti was also held under the High Patronage of the European Parliament.
