Viddalba

Viddalba (Viddaèccja in Gallurese) is an Italian town of 1,593 inhabitants in the province of Sassari in Sardinia.
It is located in the historical region of Gallura. The town lies on the edge of the lower Coghinas valley, on the extreme western border of Gallura. There is no shortage of important evidence from the various historical periods: domus de janas, nuraghi, a Nuragic village, a housing settlement, a necropolis and a bridge from the Roman period in addition to the important ceramic and glass artifacts and precious objects housed in the Civic Archaeological Museum. Of medieval age is the Romanesque church of St. John the Evangelist, whose ancient simulacrum is preserved in the nearby church of St. Leonard, as the ancient Romanesque church fell into ruin. Today this place of worship has been entirely rebuilt from scratch. The feast of St. John the Baptist is celebrated there.
