Church and Necropolis of Santa Severa

The church of Santa Severa is of probable medieval origin, but has 17th-century reconstructions. Inside there is a single bay tripartite by round arches with a ribbed roof. The Phoenician-Punic and later Roman necropolis is located next to the church and was discovered in the mid-19th century. Of extraordinary interest was the discovery of a monumental caisson tomb, also datable to the Archaic period. It will soon be possible to visit the Santa Severa necropolis thanks to a project to musealize and enhance the archaeological area.
