Capuchin Convent of St. Francis

The cloister, rectangular in plan with a well in the center, is divided into two orders on three sides, the lower order having round arches on quadrangular pillars and a high continuous basement. In 1866 with the forfeiture of ecclesiastical property by the state, the convent changed its function by hosting municipal offices and the elementary school until 1925. In this same year it was given to Msgr. Angioni who made it “a shelter for abandoned poor people and a small hospital”; later it became an institution for the elderly. Today, completely renovated, it is partly used as the seat of municipal offices and the L. Rachel Civic School of Music.
