The hypogeum of San Salvatore di Sinis first appeared in studies during the 17th century. The ancient hypogeum is accessed by a staircase that starts from the left aisle and gives access to a small compartment from which the five rooms branch off. The walls of the monument have preserved traces of sporadic attendance detectable through the presence of graffiti inscriptions bearing a date prior to the public use of the monument.
