The Calasetta Museum of Contemporary Art, now run by the MACC foundation, was inaugurated on November 11, 2000. The museum was set up in the old site of the municipal slaughterhouse and founded on the initiative of artist Ermanno Leinardi. It contains the “E. Leinardi” collection, which consists of one hundred and twenty works by one hundred European artists and focuses on the production of the years 1960/1980. Two directions of research are present: one dealing with concrete art and the other with abstract art. Part of the collection is on permanent display on the upper floor, combined with exhibitions of works documenting the development of geometric abstraction from 1950 to the present day through the contributions of young artists. There is also a so-called “oval” room where solo exhibitions are held by invitation. Among others, works by: Lucio Fontana, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Michael Seuphor, Bice Lazzari, Piero Dorazio, Aurelie Nemours, Ode, Bertrand, Lucio Battaglia, Ermanno Leinardi, Arturo Vermi, Ettore Sordini, Atanasio Soldati, Carla Badiali, Mario Radice, Achille Pace, Philippe Morisson, Yves Popet, Peter Staechelin, Gilbert Decock, Virginia Fagini, Italo Utzeri, Mauro Reggiani, Godfried Honegger, Giulio Turcato, Mauro Manca, Jean Leppien, etc.
