The Littoleri Nuraghe is located in the Rio Aratu valley, near Lake Gusana, at an altitude of 652 m asl. Since ancient times, the valley has been a crossroads and a place of passage of paths that, during periods of transhumance, united the heights of Gennargentu with Tirso, the plain of Ottana and the Oristanese. From the location of the archaeological remains that gravitate around the valley, one can see how, from the earliest times, the area has been intensely inhabited. In April-November 2010, archaeological excavations were held that brought to light the Nuragic building, of which the collapses and vegetation left only glimpses of the eastern and northern parts. The tower with thick walls made using cyclopean granite boulders has come down to us only partially preserved. The inner face, made of large stones in the basement and smaller ones in the upper parts, is preserved from a minimum of one to a maximum of five rows. The deficiencies in the elevated masonry do not hinder the understanding of the original plan, which is clearly legible. The shape of the tower is circular with an external diameter at the base of about m 12.5 and chamber, also circular, with a diameter of m 4. The interior spaces, in order to obtain more living space, are enlarged with three niches of pseudo-circular shape, arranged in a cross around the chamber and by another overlooking the hallway. Opposite the latter is the staircase of which six steps remain, which in a helical pattern inserted itself inside the walls to reach the terrace.
