The INAF – Astronomical Observatory of Cagliari (OAC) is one of the 16 research facilities forming part of the National Institute of Astrophysics, Italy’s leading research organization for the study of the Universe. Since the fall of 2013, the new headquarters of INAF – Astronomical Observatory of Cagliari is located in the Campus of Science, Technology and Environment in the town of Selargius. Inside it are several areas dedicated to research, technology and outreach. The research area that most characterizes the Cagliari Observatory is radio astronomy, mainly due to the fact that the Observatory operates the Sardinia Radio Telescope (SRT), a large 64-meter diameter radio telescope located in the municipality of San Basilio. However, research spans the entire range of science in the Universe, from studies of stars to cosmology. In addition, innovative technologies and cutting-edge instrumentation for astronomy are designed and developed within the Observatory. Finally, the headquarters of the INAF – Astronomical Observatory is particularly suitable for science dissemination and education in astronomy. Indeed, it is equipped with a teaching room with observational instruments, an auditorium that can also be used as a multimedia room and scientific theater, an up-to-date library, a museum containing historical instruments, and a state-of-the-art planetarium.
