Fortifications Citadel of Museums – Buoncammino Avenue

Departing from the Citadel of Museums, in the vicinity of the Dusay Bastion, now known as the San Pancrazio Prison, the route winds its way through the northern section of the walled city, in which all the construction phases of the fortifications can be read, from the 13th century to the 18th century. Taken as a whole, the buildings constitute a complex and articulated defensive system, much of which is still recognizable, and which was gradually modified and expanded to adapt to innovations in military techniques.
