At the headquarters of the Buccari-Marconi Nautical Institute, students will present in-depth studies in the conference room through photographic, historical and documentary materials of the system of watchtowers in the Gulf of Cagliari, the types of boats that plied the seas of Sardinia and related to the history of pirates and privateers who for several centuries kidnapped the population and plundered our land.
The activity and topics covered will find completion in the presentation of the Bonaria shrine with its history related to the Friars of Mercede and their mission to liberate captives and subsequent visit to the Bonaria Museum where a valuable collection of objects and votive offerings related to the sea is gathered, with its models but also to the experiences of the freed slaves.
