Mogoro

Mogoro is a center in the Marmilla region, synonymous with textile art and wooden artifacts valued worldwide, with deep roots in the past and where tradition is still very much alive today. The spotlight of the Artistic Handicrafts Fair of Sardinia has been shining on manufacturing excellence throughout Sardinia every summer since 1962. At the center of the town is the late-Romanesque Parish Church of San Bernardino da Siena, with Baroque inserts, equipped with a single nave frescoed with scenes from the saint’s life, in which is kept the relic of the Eucharistic miracle of 1604. The Church of Carmine, built in the 14th century, has Romanesque-Gothic forms and belonged to the Carmelite convent until 1855. Built with white stone and basalt, and erected on a hill, stands the small church of Sant’Antioco, accessible by a striking flight of steps. There are single-tower nuraghi and complexes in the area, including the visitable archaeological area of Cuccurada.
