The Attilio and Elena Giuliani Foundation
The Attilio and Elena Giuliani Foundation was established in Rome in 2010 by a deed of gift from founder Dr. Sergio Giuliani and his personal investment of more than 15 mln euros. The Foundation expresses its role as a private entity that performs a socially useful service through a plurality of conference, cultural and social engagement initiatives and through the cultural presidium of the Consentia Itinera Multimedia Museum, which was established in November 2017 and has been accredited to the National Museum System since March 2023.
Venue. Villa Rendano, nineteenth-century home of the musician Alfonso
Saldo an element of identity of the city, slightly isolated from the narrow and impervious alleys of the old town lying on the Pancrazio Hill, Villa Rendano was built when, in 1887, Domenico Rendano “spinning miller and landowner” bought a “block of flats for the use of spinning mill (…) as well as a shanty house composed of several floors in order to settle permanently his speculation of silk production.” It took on its present appearance in 1891 -date engraved at the base of the entrance gate-, in which the building appears as a sumptuous “Palazzo e stabilimento Rendano” in the coeval cadastral maps.
Frequently inhabited by the pianist Alfonso, after whom the Teatro Comunale was named a few decades later for having been a personality of high prominence in the nineteenth- and twentieth-century milieu in Europe, it expresses in its architectural bulk, decorative compartment and that basket overflowing with flowers that imposes itself at the center of the balustrade roof, the affluence and aspirations of fortune that the owners intended to manifest to the city, and it was inaugurated with a sumptuous banquet convened on the occasion of the stopover in Cosenza of Bonaventura Zumbini, distinguished literary critic, president of the Cosenza Academy and professor of Italian literature at the University of Naples.
