The Municipality of Segariu established the Documentation and Exhibition Center on the use of clays and ceramics in Sardinia from prehistory to the present day. A Scientific Committee has overseen the illustration of what is derived from archaeological and historical research and studies.
The initial section, First of all, recalls the general properties of clays and ceramics and compares to planetary dimensions the experiences of human communities applied to the uses of these materials and the production of artifacts derived from them.
The section Before the Nuraghe and Nuragic Uses and Survival, where the characters of clay slurry use, ceramic production and their social signification in Sardinia in the previous millennia are illustrated.
The limestone industry – After World War II, the need to modernize the Sardinian road network made limestone quarrying profitable; between “49 and” 53 several quarries managed by foreign entrepreneurs, located in the hills around the village, came into operation: the “Tres Corongius” quarry of Ragionian. Ettore Tagliaferri and the “Corongiu” and “Lampazzu” quarries of Mr. Raimondo Usai, later replaced by Mr. Vargiu, both still in activity; outside the village, near the border with Guasila, there was the “Fraga morus” quarry, which went through several managements and has been inactive since the late 1960s.
