Cagliari, June 9, 2025 – The spring phase of Monumenti Aperti 2025, the historic event dedicated to the enhancement of cultural heritage and active citizenship, ended with extraordinary numbers. The edition involved 67 municipalities throughout Italy, including 60 in Sardinia and 7 outside the island, confirming it as one of the most significant cultural events on the national scene.
In detail, more than 700 monuments were also opened to the public through 59 visiting itineraries that told the history, art and traditions of the territories involved. Participation was possible thanks to the vital contribution of 17,226 volunteers from 205 associations and 359 educational institutions-from kindergartens to high schools-along with 2 universities.
The visitor count is record-breaking: more than 200,000 people took part in the events, demonstrating a renewed interest in discovering and protecting local cultural heritage.
Satisfaction in the words of the president of Imago Mundi OdV, the project’s promoting body, Massimiliano Messina: “I would dare to define the results, certainly not only numerical, of the spring tranche of Monumenti Aperti 2025 as exhilarating. Our project is confirmed to be a winner, a joyful community festival, a permanent cultural workshop, in constant ferment, a creative laboratory of ideas and opportunities, a great space of valorization, open, inclusive, of the very rich heritage of our country. The consolidation in Sardinia and the decisive breakthrough in the Peninsula, never so massive and capillarized, excite and make us proud. And they predispose us in the best possible way to face this year’s wide and nourished autumn window and the special anniversary of 2026, that, crucial, 30th edition.”
