The Civitelle archaeological site, set among the mountainous landscapes of Frosolone, is one of the most striking testimonies to Samnite civilization in Molise. In a panoramic position, it preserves imposing sections of megalithic walls and defensive structures erected between the 4th and 3rd centuries B.C., when the territory played a strategic role in the network of Upper Molise settlements.
The mighty stones of the city walls, immersed in the silence of nature, tell stories of strong peoples rooted in their identity, offering visitors an experience that combines archaeology, landscape and collective memory.
During the 2025 edition of Monumenti Aperti, the site will become the scene of storytelling and guided tours led by students from the “Colozza” Comprehensive Institute, with the support of the project’s partner associations and entities – including REWIND Molise APS, the Italian Federation of Equestrian and Sport Tourism Professionals and Technicians (FIPTES), Italia Nostra – Campobasso section and the La Terra Cultural Association. Through storytelling, performance activities and re-enactments, students and local guides will take visitors on a journey through time, offering a living, shared vision of Samnite history.
