The path of the Samnites

The walk to the Civitelle starts from the main square of Frosolone, the beating heart of the village, where students and volunteers welcome visitors by introducing the “Sanniti in scena” project and recounting the cultural roots of the community, from the ancient craft traditions of cutlers to the social life of the village. From here, the route continues by car for a few minutes to the Civitelle district, where the asphalt road ends and the pedestrian section begins.
Along the approximately five hundred meters that lead to the archaeological site, the young people accompany visitors with narratives and reflections dedicated to the Samnite civilization: the daily life of a mountain people, the relationship with nature, the importance of fortifications and the strategic role of the highlands. Each step becomes an opportunity to connect the landscape one crosses with the historical memory of the territory.

The arrival at the Cyclopean walls of the Civitelle represents the culmination of the tour. Here students guide visitors to discover the characteristics of the site and its defensive function, offering a key to interpretation that interweaves historical knowledge, landscape and identity. The experience thus becomes a collective journey through time, capable of restoring the strength and relevance of Samnite memory to the present.
