Roots on the road
The future of root tourism

The final event of the ITALEA Sardinia project, will be held in Asuni (OR), at the Museum of Emigration, October 10-12, 2025.

During the conference scheduled for Saturday, October 11, Fabrizio Frongia (founding member of Imago Mundi) will talk about the Monumenti Aperti project and how community involvement in the enhancement of local cultural heritage can be an effective vehicle for rediscovering one’s roots. A special excursion led by archaeologist Nicola Sanna is scheduled for Sunday, October 12, to learn about Laconi’s main points of interest and discover together stories and identities that unite past and present.

ITALEA, an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and implemented in Sardinia by the third sector organization Cumbidu, celebrates root tourism as an opportunity to develop inland areas, enhance identity heritage and strengthen ties with Sardinian communities around the world.
