Sa Domu de Is Ainas

The historical-ethnographic museum “Sa Domu de is Ainas” is an exhibition structure in which the peasant culture expressed over the centuries by the communities of Sarrabus Gerrei is reconstructed. The rigorous scientific reconstruction is operated through aesthetically interesting and linguistically accessible communicative solutions for a wide and varied audience. The peasant universe is restored in the display of agricultural tools, through the reconstruction of the cultivation and processing of wheat and vines. The museum has a collection of about six hundred pieces. Also on display are a series of period photos depicting moments of community life from the early 1900s to the 1950s. In addition to these it is possible to see eight hundred images by photographer Marcello Stefanini portraying important socio-anthropological aspects of Armungia. The museum is structured into six thematic rooms: the women’s work room, the agriculture room, the territory room, the Emilio Lussu room, and the images and sounds room.
