It superbly dominates the small village and stands on the foundations of the original medieval fortress dating back to the late 13th century. The fortress was equipped with all the typical features of the period: secret and underground walkways, dark dungeons and sinister places of torture. By the mid-1700s the ancient manor house was showing signs of aging, and so the feudal lord, Marquis Giovanni Antonio Busca, erected the palace that still towers imposingly over the square. It was then that it assumed the prestigious role of the marquis’ summer residence. Today, thanks to an exemplary restoration, it has been able to preserve intact its majestic and severe elegance and proudly houses the regional wine shop “Colline del Moscato” on the second floor. For years it has been engaged in the promotion and enhancement of Moscato and Asti Spumante, typical wines of our lands that on our hills have created a splendid landscape of vineyards.
