Thiesi

Thiesi, with its 2774 inhabitants, located on a small plain along the southern borders of Mount Pelao, is one of the most important centers in the Meilogu. In its territory are the necropolis of Mandra Antine and the protonuraghe Fronte ‘e Mola.
Tiesina’s economy is mainly based on the industrial production of agribusiness: some of Italy’s largest dairy industries operate in the country, the leather trade and furniture production. Developed are agriculture and sheep, cattle and pig farming. The tertiary sector consists of a discrete distribution and service network, among which we can find social services (nursing home, schools, hospital, state and parastatal offices) and banking and postal services.
Visit the museum of Aligi Sassu, one of the great protagonists of 20th-century Italian art (Milan 1912 – Pollença 2000). Born to a Thiesian father, he spent part of his childhood in Thiesi, drawing from those places impressions and suggestions that would influence his art.
