The archaeological complex of the ancient harbor is located below the current waterfront at Via Principe Umberto and Via Genova. During excavations in 1999 and 2001, 24 ships were found, including two from the Neronian-Vespasian age, 11 from the Vandal period, and 6 from the medieval period. Opposite the above excavation area, two churches existed at No. 7 and No. 14 Corso Umberto, respectively. The two temples in Roman times opened onto the forum (part of whose pavement can be seen next to the municipal building), which is the square surrounded by public buildings where citizens gathered to transact business. From it branched the decumanus maximus (now Corso Umberto), which constituted, with the cardo maximus, the main street of a regular intersecting road and urban fabric of axes oriented NNO-SSE
