The Literary Café, as we see it today, is a favorite place for villacidresi to meet and welcome visitors. Cultural events and educational workshops are constantly held here. The Literary Café until a few years ago was known as Casa Cogotti, named after the previous owners, one of the richest and most influential families in Villacidro. Today the building is municipal property. The building element that best characterizes it is definitely the elevation (the facade) on Zampillo Square, with an architectural language reminiscent of the Neoclassical period.
On the upper floor of the Literary Café it is possible to visit Villacidrese artist Mario Mocci’s exhibition “Nuragic Sardinia and Masks of Tradition,” a rich and varied selection of works between wood and terracotta; a journey through faithful reproductions of the most significant artistic symbols of our island’s history, culture and tradition.
