South of the built-up area of Portoscuso, in the locality of Paringianu, extends the wide lagoon of “Boi Cerbus” enclosed, together with the sandy peninsula of Punta S’Aliga, in the SCI (Site of Community Importance) area established on the basis of the Community Directives “Habitat” (92/43/EEC) and “Birds” (79/409/EEC).
The variety of habitats present make it possible to host numerous highly diverse and qualitatively and quantitatively relevant fauna and flora species.
In addition, numerous endemics are also present.
