The Documentation Center of Sardinian Literature, located in an elegant 18th-century building in the heart of Ozieri’s historic center, was created with the aim of collecting, preserving and enhancing the works of literary production in the Sardinian language.
Managed by the Cultural Association “Ozieri Prize for Sardinian Literature,” the Center makes the texts and documents kept in the Prize’s archives accessible to the public, offering a valuable reference point for scholars, enthusiasts and students.
Founded in 1956, the Ozieri Prize represents the longest-running and most active initiative for the promotion and dissemination of Sardinian literature. Its most outstanding merit has been to reaffirm the role of the Sardinian language within island society, encouraging its revival, production and circulation in the literary sphere.
In more than half a century of activity, thanks to constant volunteer efforts, the Prize has collected a very rich heritage: unpublished texts, documentation on authors, correspondence, photographs, audiovisual and sound materials. This corpus today represents an important resource for the cultural memory of Sardinia.
