The cemetery is located about 500 meters from the Director’s Villa in Castiadas Centrale. Some of the employees of the former penal colony rest here. During a memorial ceremony held in 2013, a plaque was affixed that reads, “In memory of the members of the prison administration who redeemed this land from malaria by fertilizing it with their lives.”
