The Archaeological Exhibition of the Pistis – Corsi Collection and the Graphic Photographic Exhibition of the Archaeological Heritage of the Municipality of Iglesias are housed in the conference hall of the Municipal Historical Archives on Carceri Street.
Important and evocative palethnological artifacts, which from prehistoric times, through the Phoenician-Punic and Roman ages to the Middle Ages, have become municipal property following a donation made by the heirs of Inspector Salvatore Pistis.
A series of educational panels illustrate the most significant archaeological sites in the municipality and highlight material evidence from the earliest phase of our historical memory.
The collection was donated in 1969 to the municipality by Ms. Maria Pistis, widow of Angelo Corsi.
The exhibit consists of 139 pieces from Sulcis Iglesiente, with material ranging from prehistory to the 14th century AD. Said pieces are of Punic, Phoenician and Roman origin.
There are also many medals, including a Punic specimen from the 3rd century BC.
