The site lies on high ground overlooking the gulf, upstream of the Riu Mannu and west of the Roman Bridge.
Four military posts operating during World War I and World War II have been identified in the area.
The first installation dates back to 1873: two symmetrical bodies have been identified of this one, each consisting of a protective barbette, a stationary cannon emplacement, and an underground reserve for ammunition and weapons.
