One of the most striking mining sites on the island is located near the banks of the stream of the same name and is an emblematic example of classic mining architecture in Sardinia.
The village, with an area of 2700 hectares, is set in a landscape-environment of extraordinary beauty, characterized by the presence of deep valleys, in which typically Mediterranean scrub vegetation prevails. Dating from the early 1900s, the mining complex, which remained in operation no to 1965 for the extraction of arsenopyrite, includes about thirty buildings and a wealth of rare industrial equipment for the extraction of the mineral. Of notable interest are the premises used as a washery, now fully restored, and the small reservoir created for water storage and located below the wild sheer slopes of the Cardiga plateau.
