Lighthouse of Capo Caccia

Opened in 1864, it was renovated in 1950 and reactivated in 1960. The lighthouse sits right on top of the cliff that marks the end of the gulf of Porto Conte, overlooking the sea, and is a large three-story white tenement, wrapped in the Faraday cage that protects it from lightning. The structure is crowned by the lantern in whose interior is housed the rotating optics. It is an imposing construction, on top of which towers a tower of about 24 meters, which, added, to the height of the cliff, brings the total height of the lighthouse to 186 meters above sea level, making Capo Caccia the highest lighthouse in Italy.
