The city’s “Giuseppe Altana” art gallery, located in the premises of the former power plant, displays a selection of about 70 works from the municipality’s impressive art collection. Many works are the result of donations made over the years by people affectively connected to Ozieri, including the Marras, Tinu and Cocco families. The layout makes the most of Ozierese’s most important painters with dedicated spaces such as the “Giuseppe Altana Room” and the “Pietro Tinu Rooms.”
Among the works on display are those by internationally known artists such as Battaglia, Ceccobelli, Cotani, Di Stasio, Galliani, Panzino, Passa, Pinelli, Pizzi Cannella, Ricci, Tacchi, and Lai, and by important exponents of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Sardinian, Tuscan, and Umbrian art (such as Somelli, Mazzaccherini, Valori, and others). In addition to preserving an important art collection and constituting an important exhibition space, the former power plant represents one of the most important examples of industrial archaeology in Sardinia.
