The area is located south of the Salto di Quirra plateau and overlooks the mining village of Baccu Locci. Pranu Trebini covers about 0.4 km2 and is characterized by limestone and arenaceous tabular forms. The locality is distinguished by the great variety of shapes resulting from the selective erosive action of weathering on different rock types. The site is characterized by a deep and narrow valley with high scenic and landscape value, in which singular morphologies such as arches, spires, cornices, and rock cities follow one another. These forms are interspersed with viewpoints over the deep canyons of the Rio Baccu Locci and large caves, used by local shepherds until a few decades ago. The formation environment is marine, as also evidenced by the numerous finds of fossil organisms.
