The Guest House for Mine Engineers and Managers, built at Montevecchio in 1930 along with the building intended for employee housing, represents a unified complex where the intentions of representativeness are expressed with the lexicon of turn-of-the-century eclecticism; made up of spacious rooms, airy entrance loggias and decorative apparatuses that are typical of urban residences in the nineteenth-century neighborhoods of large cities.
The building, with a regular floor plan, is on three levels, with a regular and symmetrical distribution of spaces.
A stone wainscoting characterizes the ground attachment, which ends with a cornice at the impost level of the ground-floor windows.
Arches and pilasters characterize all elevations, defining parties and openings.
The crowning, emphasized by an ornate double molding cornice, consists of hipped roofs with wooden framework and Marseille tile trim.
The building, which has not undergone any major renovations since its construction, was closed in 1991.
Currently, the guesthouse houses, in some of its rooms, a splendid collection of dioramas (Dellaca’ Collection), reproducing mining life in various eras.
A splendid educational tour of unparalleled interest that stimulates and fascinates visitors, guiding them on an exciting journey through the mining world.
